h1. Configure ssh-server on a host

h2. Requirements

To configure ssh you will need the following:

* a installed and supported operating system (e.g. Fedora 32)

* root-access

* a fast internet connection

h2. Install ssh

usually @ssh@ is installed by default and the service is started up automatically

dnf install openssh-server

h2. Configure ssh

vim /etc/ssh/sshd_config

# Prevent root logins:

PermitRootLogin no

AllowUsers alice bob

PubkeyAuthentication yes

PasswordAuthentication no

</pre>

after doing some changes you will have to restart the service

systemctl restart sshd.service

h2. ssh-service

<pre><code class="bash">

systemctl enable sshd.service

systemctl is-enabled sshd.service

should result in

enabled
